Goodbye again, Hulu Plus.

To be fair, Hulu Plus is not advertised as a commercial-free experience. The thing is, they don’t point out the fact that ads exist in the paid version, either. I think many other potential customers are in the same boat as I, assuming that the service was intended to be competitive with similar services.

I’d much rather pay a few extra dollars a month for commercial-free programming than pay $1 less than Netflix but have to sit through dozens of commercials every hour of viewing.

Hopefully they consider changing their business model to get profit from their customer base instead of advertisers. Maybe even test it out, give us a choice, the current price + commercials or a higher price with no commercials.. who knows, we’ll see.

I’ve kept my eye on Hulu since it was in its infancy, as I see a lot of potential here; nonetheless, you still will not get a cent out of me until/unless I can get a commercial-free service, otherwise I’ll just stick to the limitation of only watching on the computer, and using similar services for whatever I can’t get here.

In any case, it was fun getting another Hulu Plus trial considering it’s been a few years since my last one.

Well, that was annoying.

I have a PS3 fat.

I have a mybook live 1TB.

I cannot use the PS3 Backup Utility to backup all my saved games from the PS3 to the MyBook. I have formatting the hdd as FAT32 (as required by Sony’s backup system, meh), but no. The backup still fails. I have tried both partitioning the MyBook as well as just formatting the entire drive as FAT32. It still fails. The drive is good, no disk errors when scanned with any disc checking software (on linux, windows, OR macos — hey, i’m thorough.. that PS3 also has backups of all my PSone, PS2, and PSP saves!)

Apparently I’m not the only person with this problem, as the PS3 is notoriously picky in what kind of drives it will allow you to use the backup utility with.

Just leaving this tidbit here in case anyone else has a MyBook and would prefer to avoid the headache. Just manually backup save files to a flash drive. Sure, you lose Demons’ Souls saves and a few other small things, but really, it’s not worth buying an external hdd JUST for a PS3 backup.

Thankfully the process of manually copying all my saves got everything I needed for my purposes, in less than 10 minutes, so after I hit the publish button, this is a worry for past me. <3
